Discipleship is the heartbeat of NTBC
because it is the heartbeat of God! In Matthew, Jesus
commissioned his disciples to “Go ye therefore, and teach
(disciple) all nations…” Every ministry at NTBC is established
for the purpose of making and training disciples of Jesus
Christ.
Through the discipleship process at NTBC followers of Christ are
helped to understand their relationship to God, how to
communicate with Him, how to apply basic Bible principles to
their life, and how they can be an influential witness and
testimony of God’s grace.
Just like children enjoy measuring their physical growth on a
wall chart, many followers of Christ are encouraged when they
can mark their spiritual growth over time. The four goals of
discipleship at NTBC that help believers know they are growing
in the Lord are consistency in their daily time with God,
profitable relationships with other disciples of Christ,
effective participation in the local church, and personal growth
in life and ministry.
Whether you are a new believer just beginning your walk with
Christ, or have been a Christian for a long time, there is a
place for you to grow as a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ at
NTBC.

Alive is the first step for any new believer at NTBC. This is a
6 week class that seeks to connect a person to Christ and His
Word. Learning takes place in a casual environment with others
who are also beginning their spiritual journey. Questions are
welcomed and participation encouraged as the fresh truths of
Christianity are discovered. |

Dive is a 6 week course that explores the core values of NTBC.
It is the natural follow-up for the Alive graduate and is a
perfect beginning place for others also interested in membership
at NTBC. Among other things, this class will introduce the
believer to the organizational structure of the church, make
clear the covenant relationship between the members of the body
and explain the priority of missions. |

Thrive operates as the central core of discipleship life at NTBC.
This is usually a one-on-one or possibly a small group study that
emphasizes the character of a Christian as seen in God’s Word.
In this phase of growth the disciple seeks to become established
in the Word of God, increase relationships with other disciples
of Christ, effectively participate in the local church body, and
grow in the understanding of how God may use their spiritual
giftedness to edify the body at NTBC and minister to the
community. |

The STRIVE level of ministry at NTBC seeks to challenge the
disciple to be and grow as a leader in the ministry. In God’s
economy, a minister is both a servant and a leader, because a
servant IS a leader! STRIVE will emphasize principles of
excellence that every servant/leader should possess and pursue
in order to maximize his/her fruitfulness in ministry. |
